Portrait - s/t LP

This fellow Kristianstad-based band has been hailed by critics, toured Europe and Asia, built up a huge fan-base and they've recieved very positive feedback from the internationally largest metal magazines for their self titled debut album Portrait from 2008. Great 80's style trash-metal. I'm myself not the biggest metal consumer around the bends but this album is magnificent, very original and listening to Portrait takes you back to the early 80's. Although inspired by the likes of King Diamond and such, you can clearly hear some Megadeth and Metallica hot licks from their earliest days, before their rise. Sadly enough, singer Philip "Inquisitor" Svennefelt (who by the way was the sound engineer on some demos by our project Honey Made Opiate, had to point that out!) left the band in 2009 to pursue a career with his band Helvetets Port. And all of a sudden the band got themselves a more "polished" sound, in my poinion. They will never be as good as on this classic album!

One of those albums that for me has constantly been on repeat since the age of 13.

Weeping Willows - Broken Promise Land LP

In the very beginning Weeping Willows was a fairly decent band consisting of a couple of bartenders and waiters from the Stockholm area. Playing at small venues/clubs in Stockholm around 1995-1997 their repertoir consisted mainly of covers by Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley, Hank Williams and Bobby Vinton to name a few.  As time progressed they eventually released their debut album Broken Promise Land in 1997. The album featured great brass and string arrangements. This is their best album to date. Very timeless and you can hear the whole 60's touch.

The Broken Promise Land LP (GRV009) is released in an edition of handnumbered 500 copies by Grand Recordings in 1997. This is #395/500.

Bob Hund - Folkmusik För Folk Som Inte Kan Bete Sig Som Folk 2x10'' + 7'' & Fantastiskt 10"

Bob Hund - Folkmusik För Folk Som Inte Kan Bete Sig Som Folk - 2x10" + 7" (555 copies)

The vinyl edition of this album wasn't released as an "ordinary" album. FFFSIKBSF was released on 2x10" vinyls (green and blue) and a 7" (red) containing the first single off of the album Tinnitus I Hjärtat. This was released in a total ammount of 555 copies.

Bob Hund - Fantastiskt 10" (555 copies)

Now this one's crazy. Originally released as a 1/1 (!!) copy release this 12" had a real turntable (!) as a cover (as can be seen on the cover of the later 10" release) and the lyrics were inscripted by hand on the lid of the turntable by artist Martin Kann.

The original Fantastiskt 12" was sold on eBay in the the spring of 2009 for $3,650.00. The person who bought it later released Fantastiskt on a golden 10" vinyl (IDIOT001) limited to 555 copies on his own record label Idiot Records, of course with the approval of Bob Hund and their management. We may thank him for the existence of the Fantastiskt 10" vinyl.

The front cover on the Fantastiskt 10" features a photo on the actual 12" record with the turntable-cover.

The back of the Fantastiskt 10" features a photo of the actual eBay auction for the Fantastiskt 12".

Soundgarden Reunion?

After the break-up which lasted for twelve years the Seattle grunge pioneers have according to reports on 1st of january reunited again in 2010. In the final hours of 2009, Chris Cornell posted on Twitter: "The 12 year break is over & school is back in session. Knights of the Soundtable ride again!" with a link to the newly erected www.soundgardenworld.com. Soundgarden started off in 1984 and has since the late 80's been one of the most important Seattle bands.

Also, Kim Thayil is most likely one of my Top 10 most important guitarists of all time.

2010 couldn't have gotten a better start - Wonder what this holds for us!

Kim Thayil, Chris Cornell, Ben Shepherd and Matt Cameron on the cover of Rolling Stone on June 16th 1994.
