Red Hot Chili Peppers - One Hot Minute (1995)

As I came to think of recently, this must be like the only listenable album by this band. It's no secret that I have never fully liked the music of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Maybe it's just the singer, Anthony Kiedis. I don't know. But this album is very different in many ways. Maybe it's the presence of ex-Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro that makes this album what it is: one of the 90's best album (and one of the most underrated one as well), showing off a more darker and intimate side of the band.

Released in 1995 by Warner Records this is the band at it's peak. Navarro brings a lot of Jane's Addiction-riffs into the songs which really makes this album special and unique in every way.  From simple songs like Flea's Pea (containing only an acoustic bass and Flea singing about being a litte pea) to the massive funkadelic groove of songs like One Big Mob and Coffee Shop to stripped down songs like My Friends and the great  and beautiful Tearjerker (supposedly written as a tribute to Kurdt Kobain) .

As every story has an end, so did this 95-96 constellation of the Chili Peppers. Dave Navarro quit the band in 1997 following up the reunion of Jane's Addiction (who originally broke up back in 1991) , but before the departure he left behind this MASSIVE album. Clearly a classic! So in case you haven't heard One Hot Minute, it's indeed time to do so.
